Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge allies to supply Ukrainian forces with further long-range missiles to hit Moscow's positions during discussions in London on this Friday.

The prime minister will host Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky alongside the so-called "group of committed partners", comprising more than 20 of supporting nations who have agreed to offer Ukraine security guarantees once a ceasefire is negotiated.

The Ukrainian leader has been appealing for an extended period for further long-range weapons from Western nations, an action that the Russian government has warned would intensify the war.

President Zelensky is coming from Belgium, where he met European representatives on the previous day seeking economic assistance.

"The single figure involved in the ongoing war who refuses to end the fighting is President Putin," Starmer said.
