Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
